My Sound Cinema

My Sound Cinema is an online film service dedicated to providing audio described films that launched in September 2022. Audio description in films describes the visual elements of the film that someone who is visually impaired may miss.

Funded by Creative Informatics, Innovate UK and The Space, My Sound Cinema was developed by Screen Language, who are a leading provider of audiovisual translation in Scotland.

All the films available on My Sound Cinema are available with audio description by default which cannot be switched off. All the films also have captions for deaf audiences or subtitles for foreign language films, making it accessible for people who are deaf or hard of hearing as well as visually impaired. Once you have registered on the service, you can select and pay for the film you want to watch. You have 72 hours to start watching the film, and 48 hours from when you started watching it to finish watching it, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the film. You pay for the films that you watch.
