Technology Review – the Ruby XL Magnifier

In our next technology review, we look at the Ruby XL high-definition (HD) magnifier. The magnifier, manufactured by American company Freedom Scientific, allows the user to read small print. It is easy to use on the go, with a straightforward folding handle and large colour contrasted and tactile buttons. The Ruby XL can magnify anything, up to times 14. It allows you to change the colour contrast, as well as adding a reading line. It has a high-definition camera, ensuring that everything is noticeably clear to read.
When coupled with the reading stand built into the device, it can be a nice portable magnifier to take out and about with you. You can read more about the Ruby XL HD magnifier on the Freedom Scientific website https://www.freedomscientific.com/Products/LowVision/RubyXLHD
The Ruby XL can be bought from a number of outlets in the UK, and costs start at £499. If you would
like more information about the Ruby XL magnifier, please get in touch with one of our ICT Officers,
Kevin or Ryan.
