Dundee group member John Black delivering a talk on the Stone of Destiny to a small group sitting round a table

What have the Dundee and Broughty Ferry Social GroupsBeen Doing?

NESS Dundee and Broughty Ferry Sensory Social Groups both continue to meet once a month to enjoy a wide range of activities. Dundee group member John Black delivered a very topical talk on the Stone of Destiny. Another Dundee member opened her garden – with its beautiful display of spring flowers – to the
rest of the group for an afternoon visit:

“I really enjoyed providing the tour and being able to spend valuable time with my friends from the sensory group”.

The Ferry group have enjoyed a talk on ‘The Ferry’s Forgotten Heroes and Characters’, while both groups have taken part in physical activity sessions including indoor ‘Vision Rugby’ (delivered by Strathmore Rugby Football Club) and swimming.

Other talks have included the very popular ‘Kaleidoscope of Wildlife’.

Upcoming activities for both groups include an introduction to Dundee University’s ‘A Walk Around Dundee’ board game, and the opportunity to experience their ‘Sensory Backpack’ – which brings objects selected from the University of Dundee Museums collection out to community groups to spark discussion and recollection.

Our Dundee group meets on the last Monday of every month, while our Ferry group meets on the second Tuesday of every month. However, our programme is subject to change so please contact NESS before attending. If you would like to join our Dundee, Ferry or Angus social groups, become a NESS volunteer, or are willing to provide talks or activity sessions, then please contact Cilmi Eldho, Volunteer Coordinator for Angus and Dundee on 07720 811896 or email cilmi.eldho@nesensoryservices.org.
